Green Olivia – this is the name given to the evolutionary changes that have been taking place at Olivia Centre in Gdańsk since 2020. Pocket gardens, recreational sports fields, tree-lined alleys, green flower islands, and even an exotic garden are emerging throughout the campus. All of these initiatives aim to support the wellbeing of employees, who had the opportunity to share their thoughts on the direction of the transformation during pre-project workshops. The concept and implementation of the transformation of Olivia’s shared spaces into greener areas is led by the Design Anatomy studio.
As part of the project, we are minimizing paved surfaces in favor of green islands filled with plants that encourage air circulation, retain water, and offer shelter for insects. We’re creating a system of micro-gardens with both ecological and social functions, planting flower meadows, fruit trees, and vegetation that supports local biodiversity. We are also introducing solutions that reduce overheating of urban spaces and improve water retention. In addition, we’re designing places for socializing, relaxation, and work – all surrounded by greenery.
Future stages will include charming additions such as strawberry and wild strawberry patches, as well as small fruit trees. Olivia will also feature its very own rose garden.
Before the transformation, greenery made up just 5% of the patio space at Olivia Centre. Today, it’s nearly 50%.
